Meet The Team | Dr. Sam Impey

Dr. Impey's journey into the world of sports science began with his groundbreaking research into the cellular and molecular adaptations to exercise-nutrition interactions during his PhD and postdoctoral work. With over a decade of experience supporting elite athletes worldwide, Dr. Impey brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our team.

Pioneering Researcher

In 2018, Dr. Impey made significant contributions to the field with a seminal paper on the practical application of carbohydrate periodisation, revolutionising sports nutrition practices. His paper 'Fuel For The Work Required' has since become the operational paradigm across sports nutrition, shaping the way athletes approach fuelling for optimal performance.

Visionary Co-Founder

Driven by a desire to address challenges faced in professional sports, Dr. Impey co-founded Hexis in 2018. His vision and dedication have been instrumental in shaping our mission to empower athletes and coaches with innovative solutions.

Outside of his professional endeavours, Dr. Impey is a true sports enthusiast. He also has a keen passion for the culinary arts, particularly the art of pairing food and wine.
