About Us

Why Nutrition Matters

When you want to break boundaries or conquer personal challenges, proper nutrition can’t be an afterthought. It’s essential for maximising training, enhancing recovery and driving the adaptions the body needs for success.

But every athlete is unique and every day is different. There’s no ‘one size fits all’. Fuelling correctly isn’t easy, whether you’re chasing Olympic Gold or pushing for personal bests.

Get it right, and the payback is phenomenal. Better recovery. Less downtime. Leaps and bounds in performance. Fuel for the body, the mind and the dream.

It’s the difference between good and great, ordinary and extraordinary. Whether you’re a pro or a weekend warrior, know this: nutrition is your secret weapon. Hexis was developed to put it into every athlete’s hands.

Hexis Runners

Our Mission

We’re dedicated to transforming how every athlete in the world fuels their performance.

At Hexis, we understand that every athlete is unique. And so is the path to peak performance. Personalised, intelligent fuelling which meets those unique needs is crucial for taking every athlete to their top of their game.

We seek to constantly innovate, improve and enhance our knowledge to provide the most advanced, most accessible nutrition technology. Our goal is to optimise performance, accelerate recovery and propel athletes towards their true potential.

How We Created Hexis

The role of nutrition in athletic performance still isn’t widely understood.

But our co-founders Dr David Dunne and Dr Sam Impey have extensive experience in the field. Through their PhD research and decades of work in elite sport, they set out to explore how they could improve fuelling for every athlete.

Joining other PhD experts in tech, behaviour and data science, they sought to find a way to make this feasible – to do something that had never been done before.

They began by talking to elite athletes and coaches to understand their needs and frustrations. They built and tested early prototypes. Then they iterated and improved, again and again.

When 95% of athletes in beta testing said that Hexis had improved their performance and energy levels, it was clear that the team had created a truly exciting, valuable tool, something that really could transform fuelling for athletes at every level.

Since then, more elite athletes, coaches and teams have started to use Hexis. More than that, they’re investors in the business. And now, personalised, intelligent fuelling is available to all.

Our Foundation: Carb Coding™

Only Hexis is built on Carb CodingTM  technology, to give athletes and coaches the most advanced, most accessible, personalised nutrition.

Carb Coding is the way Hexis' AI identifies whether a meal or snack should be low, medium or high in carbohydrate. This is the practical translation of carbohydrate periodisation research, which demonstrates the positive impact of tailoring carbohydrate consumption to the unique needs of every athlete, workout and day.

Carb Coding considers the type, intensity and duration of training, the number of meals and snacks consumed each day, and body composition goals. Together, these factors inform how the AI distributes carbohydrate need across the day to optimise the quality of training and adaptation, and to maximise recovery. Each factor is unique to every athlete, so Hexis offers a truly personalised, dynamic nutrition plan, day in, day out.
