The Role
We’re seeking an exceptional Head of Operations to further enhance the structure, pace, and rigour to how Hexis operates as a team. You’ll be joining a fast-moving, multi-disciplinary team of engineers, designers, performance scientists and commercial roles at a critical inflection point in the company’s growth. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role that blends operational leadership, project management, and team performance with a supporting element of people and HR operations. If you thrive in ambiguity, love building systems, and want to directly shape how a high-growth company scales, this is the role for you.
Key Responsibilities
Operations, Project Management & Stakeholder Communications
- Own and drive internal project management across product, commercial, and operational workstreams, ensuring milestones are met and priorities are clear.
- Design and implement lightweight, effective operational processes and workflows that scale with the business without introducing unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Coordinate cross-functionally between engineering, product, sales, and leadership to ensure alignment on priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
- Manage sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and other delivery cadences in collaboration with the engineering and product teams.
- Track and report on key operational metrics and KPIs, providing the CEO with clear visibility of progress, risks, and blockers.
- Support investor communications, reporting, and preparation of materials as needed.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and inefficiencies, proposing and implementing solutions that improve speed and output quality.
Team Performance & Culture
- Champion and embed Hexis’ values of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation across the team’s day-to-day working practices.
- Implement and manage performance frameworks including goal-setting, regular check-ins, and feedback loops that drive accountability and development.
- Support the CEO in building a high-performance culture where every team member understands their role, their impact, and their growth trajectory.
- Facilitate team retrospectives and process improvement sessions, ensuring lessons are captured and actioned.
- Monitor team engagement and wellbeing, proactively identifying and addressing issues before they affect performance or retention.
- Continuously review and refine the systems, tools and rituals that make remote work effective
People & HR Operations
- Manage core HR processes including contracts, onboarding, offboarding, leave management, and compliance with Irish and UK employment law.
- Coordinate recruitment activities in partnership with hiring managers: job postings, candidate pipeline management, interview scheduling, and offer processes.
- Maintain employee records, HR documentation, and policies, ensuring they are up to date, compliant, and fit for a growing startup.
- Support the development of a compelling employer brand and employee value proposition that helps Hexis attract top talent in a competitive market.
- Act as a trusted point of contact for the team on people-related matters, handling queries and issues with discretion and professionalism.
Requirements
Core Requirements
- 3–6 years of experience in operations, human resources, project management, or a chief of staff-type role, ideally within a startup or high-growth technology environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with competing priorities and tight timelines.
- Strong understanding of agile delivery methodologies and experience working closely with engineering and product teams.
- Practical HR knowledge or experience, particularly around employment contracts, onboarding, and compliance within Irish and UK jurisdictions.
- Experience managing stakeholder communications in a professional setting.
Leadership & Working Style
- Exceptional organisational skills with a bias for action — you see what needs doing and you do it.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building processes from scratch; you thrive in environments where the playbook hasn’t been written yet.
- Collaborative approach with a track record of working effectively across functions in a small team.
Bonus Points
- A genuine interest in health, human performance, and/or sports technology.
- Previous experience in a startup or scale-up environment where you wore multiple hats.
- Experience supporting fundraising processes or working within a venture-backed company.
Salary
Competitive, depending on experience, plus share options.
